I. What Is a Stock Token

A Stock Token is a digital asset built on blockchain technology. Its value tracks the price of a real stock. In short, it's a digital token that mirrors the price of an actual stock.

II. Features of Stock Tokens

Stock tokens generally come with the following features:

  1. Price tracks real stocks

The price of a stock token typically moves with the corresponding US stock.

  1. Available to trade 24/7

Unlike traditional stocks, stock tokens can be traded around the clock in crypto markets, with no restrictions tied to US market hours.

  1. Buy fractional amounts

You don't need to buy a full share. You can own a piece of a stock, which lowers the bar for getting started.

  1. Not the actual stock, no shareholder rights

Holding a stock token doesn't mean you own the real stock. So you don't get voting rights, dividends, or other shareholder perks.

III. How Stock Tokens Behave in Different Trading Sessions

Because stock tokens need to track the price of the underlying stock, different US trading sessions can affect how volatile or liquid the token market is.

1. US Regular Trading Hours (9:30 – 16:00 ET)

Low volatility, high liquidity: US stocks are trading actively, so prices update fast and bid-ask spreads stay tight. This helps stock token prices stay in sync with less fluctuation.

2. US Pre-Market & After-Hours (4:30 – 9:30; 16:00 – 20:00)

Higher volatility, lower liquidity: Trading volume in US stocks drops, which can lead to sudden price jumps and thinner order books. As a result, stock token prices become more volatile and liquidity takes a hit.

3. US Market Closed (Weekends or Holidays)

Lower liquidity, potentially higher volatility: You can still trade stock tokens, but without real-time stock prices to refer to, prices may swing more. If major global news breaks, stock token prices might move ahead of the market's expectations.

IV. Stock Splits & Reverse Splits

When the underlying US stock of a stock token goes through a stock split, reverse split, or other corporate action, the token issuer decides whether to adjust the token accordingly. The platform won't actively split or reverse split any token on its own. If the token quantity changes, the issuer or the platform will make an announcement.

V. FAQ

1. Do stock tokens pay dividends? How do splits work?

No, stock tokens don't pay dividends. Whether a token splits depends on the issuer, not the exchange. The issuer decides based on whether the underlying stock splits. For detailed split rules, check the issuer's official docs or announcements.

2. Is the platform licensed to trade stock tokens?

The platform only handles order matching, trading, and display. We follow local regulations and don't directly offer securities or stock trading. Stock tokens are digital assets on the blockchain — not traditional securities or stocks.

3. Do I get voting rights if I buy stock tokens?

No. Stock tokens are on-chain derivative assets that track stock prices. They are not actual shares issued by a company. So holders don't get voting rights, dividends, or any say in company governance. Their prices are usually pegged to the underlying stock via oracles run by third parties or on-chain protocols.

4. What happens to stock tokens if the issuer goes under?

If the token issuer goes bankrupt, gets liquidated, or defaults, the token could lose its price peg, see lower liquidity, or even experience wild price swings — possibly dropping to zero. Once we receive official announcements from the issuer, we'll share updates as soon as possible.

5. Are there fees for trading stock tokens?

Yes. Both makers and takers pay standard trading fees. For the exact rates, please check the trading page.

VI. Risk Warning

The underlying assets of Stock Contracts ("Products") are tokenized stock indices that are already trading in the market. Please note: these Products are not securities. They do not represent actual ownership of the underlying stocks, related stock tokens, or indices. These Products do not give you any dividends, interest, voting rights, shareholder rights, or rights issue entitlements (including stock splits, spin-offs, or subscription rights) of any underlying stock, related stock token, or index. These Products are not insured, approved, or guaranteed by any government or agency. CoinW is neither the issuer nor the distributor of the underlying stocks, related stock tokens, or indices.

Digital asset prices are volatile and can swing dramatically. We recommend you only invest what you can afford to lose. The value of any investment can go up or down. You might not meet your financial goals, and you might not get your original investment back. Always seek independent financial advice and think carefully about your own financial situation and experience. Past performance doesn't guarantee future results. CoinW is not responsible for any potential losses. Nothing here is financial advice.

Stock Tokens may be restricted or prohibited in your country/region based on applicable regulatory requirements. Please refer to the page for details on restricted regions.
