Dear CoinW user,
CoinW's copy trading system has helped more than 39,000 users automate their trading and generate nearly 20 million USDT in cumulative copy trading profits. This is the only copy trading guide you need. By the end, you will understand the available methods, how to choose one, how to configure parameters, and how to manage risk.
In one sentence: choose a platform trader, and the system automatically copies each futures position they open and close.
Who it suits: users who want to trade futures but lack market-analysis skills; users seeking to improve returns; and those with some futures knowledge who want to learn from experienced traders.
Key information:
Path: Home → Copy Trading → Futures Copy Trading → select a trader → open their profile → Copy.
Step 1: Choose a mode
Step 2: Smart Ratio settings — suitable for beginners
Open at Least One Contract example: the minimum ETH order is 0.01 ETH, approximately 27.39 USDT. If your proportional order is 20 USDT, below one contract, enabling this setting opens one contract automatically. If disabled, that copied order fails.
Step 3: Classic Mode settings — for advanced users
Step 4: Select assets
All Assets: copy every asset traded by the lead trader.
Selected Assets: copy only checked assets, such as BTC and ETH.
Automatically Enable Copy Trading for New Pairs: newly supported assets are added automatically when enabled.
Tip: if unsure, choose All Assets. To copy only BTC and ETH, select Selected Assets and check them manually.
Step 5: Understand all reasons an order may not be copied
The system sends an in-app message explaining the specific reason.
Step 6: Transfer funds between Copy Trading and Futures Accounts
Copy trading uses a separate Copy Trading Subaccount. Funds must be transferred from the Futures Account to begin.
Path: App → Account Center → Futures Account → Transfer → choose Futures to Copy Trading or Copy Trading to Futures.
Notes:
Only USDT transfers are supported.
Your initial investment is transferred automatically when you first configure copy trading.
Subsequent additions or withdrawals require manual transfers with no corresponding open positions.
Transfers are instant and free of charge.
Risk warning on additional isolated margin: if your trader adds margin to an open isolated position:
Add Margin enabled and sufficient balance → your account automatically adds margin too.
Setting disabled or insufficient balance → no margin is added, and you may be liquidated before the trader.
If using Isolated Margin Mode, enable Add Margin and keep sufficient funds in the Copy Trading Account.
In one sentence: the system monitors real on-chain whale and KOL wallets on HyperLiquid in real time. When they open a position, CoinW automatically opens a corresponding futures position for you—fully automated, with zero profit sharing.
Who it suits: users who want to follow top traders without sharing profits, those who trust on-chain data more than promotional claims, and beginners with limited budgets.
Key differences from other platforms' Smart Money features:
Path: Home → Copy Trading → select Smart Money Copy Trading from the dropdown → choose an address → Copy.
Entry: Home → Copy Trading → Smart Money Copy Trading.
Select an address and click Copy to open settings.
Two performance dashboards — assess whether to copy:
On-Chain Performance: complete win-rate statistics across all assets traded by the address.
Live Trading Performance: win-rate statistics only for assets listed on CoinW and available for copying.
Enter the investment and opening amount per trade, then confirm and save.
Multi-address allocation: you can copy multiple addresses simultaneously, with funds allocated independently.
Example:
Allocate 100 USDT to address A, an aggressive Celebrity Trader.
Allocate 500 USDT to address B, a Steady Long-Term Winner.
Each address executes using its own amount-per-trade setting without interfering with the others.
Signal-loss protection:
Seamless dual-system switching: primary and backup systems preserve signal continuity.
Closing-signal priority: closing signals take priority to help secure profits or cut losses.
Opening-signal circuit breaker: new positions pause during abnormal conditions to protect funds.
Q: Why did the address open a position but my account did not copy it?
A: Either the asset is not listed on CoinW, or slippage protection or insufficient funds prevented the order.
Q: Is there a delay in signal synchronization?
A: On-chain data is captured using millisecond-level technology, and copied positions open in full synchronization.
Q: Can I add an address I want to monitor?
A: Submit the address to official support. The platform will assess it for inclusion.
Q: Do trades in assets not listed on CoinW affect the displayed win rate?
A: On-Chain Performance includes all assets, while Live Trading Performance covers only assets available for copying. Use Live Trading Performance as your reference.
In one sentence: automatically trade against well-known addresses that consistently lose money: when they go long, you go short; when they go short, you go long.
Who it suits: users who believe in contrarian indicators, want to try high-payoff strategies, and are willing to speculate with small amounts.
Why does this logic work?
Machi Big Brother has accumulated losses of 78 million USDT, been liquidated more than 335 times, and has a win rate below 30%. This means at least seven out of ten trades are wrong; copying in reverse is equivalent to getting seven right and three wrong, making an overall profit highly likely.
James Wynn's account fell from USD 100 million to just 900 USDT. These are real, publicly verifiable on-chain figures.
How to use it:
Open the Smart Money Copy Trading homepage.
Scroll to Smart Money Radar → Contrarian Signals.
Select an address → Reverse Copy Trading.
Enter Copy Trading Investment and Margin per Trade.
Confirm that Reverse Copy Trading is enabled; it is on by default.
Confirm.
Illustrative example — hypothetical, not an actual trade: a signal source opens an ETH long with a notional value of 1,000,000 USDT at 25x leverage, requiring initial margin of 1,000,000 ÷ 25 = 40,000 USDT. Your reverse copy uses 20 USDT of margin at 25x leverage to open an ETH short worth 500 USDT. If ETH falls 1%, assuming corresponding entry and exit prices and excluding trading fees, funding fees, and slippage, the source loses 1,000,000 × 1% = 10,000 USDT, while you earn 500 × 1% = 5 USDT. The 20 USDT is margin, not position notional value. This example does not assume liquidation; the actual liquidation price depends on maintenance margin and other rules.
What if the signal source occasionally profits? You lose when the source profits. The key premise is that the source is wrong much more often than right. A win rate below 30% means at least seven wrong trades out of ten; reversing them gives you seven winners and three losers, producing an overall profit.
Important statement: all historical trading data cited in this section, including trader nicknames, profit/loss amounts, and liquidation counts, comes from public on-chain information or public industry reporting. It is used solely to explain Reverse Copy Trading and does not represent CoinW's assessment of anyone's trading ability, professional reputation, or personal character, nor any derogatory comment. CoinW has no association, cooperation, or authorization relationship with these individuals.
Risk warning: Reverse Copy Trading takes the opposite direction to the signal source and is a high-risk speculative feature. A lead trader's loss does not guarantee a reverse-copy profit. Fixed-amount calculation differences and funding fees may cause actual results to differ from expectations. Historical losses do not guarantee future profits from reverse trading. Set a reasonable amount per trade; the recommendation is no more than 10% of total funds.
In one sentence: automatically copy a trader's spot purchases and sales, without leverage or liquidation risk.
Who it suits: conservative users who want no futures leverage, users seeking to profit from spot market timing without choosing entries themselves, and beginners with lower risk tolerance.
Copy modes: Smart Ratio and Classic are available. Refer to the product page for the parameters available in your selected mode.
Fund transfers:
Initial funds transfer automatically from the Spot Account to the Copy Trading Subaccount during setup.
Later manual transfers: Account Center → Copy Trading Account → Spot Copy Trading → Transfer.
Only USDT can be transferred between these accounts; other tokens cannot.
Profit sharing:
Once all copied assets have been sold at market price, any profits are subject to the trader's selected profit-sharing rate.
Settlement applies whether you sell independently or follow the trader's sale.
The profit share is deducted automatically from your profits.
Selling rules:
If the trader sells 50%, you sell 50% proportionally.
The trader's limit sell order executes at a limit price; yours always executes at market price.
You may sell independently, but only all holdings at once, not in portions.
Cancelling copying automatically sells all positions at market price.
Any residual assets left after the lead trader exits are automatically transferred to your Spot Account.
Notes:
Only new asset purchases are copied after you start following; existing holdings are not copied.
One trader can have up to 150 followers.
The trader's grid trades are not copied.
Traders may remove followers; existing holdings are unaffected.
Q: Can I transfer copied assets to the Spot Account?
A: No. Only USDT transfers are supported between the Copy Trading and Spot Accounts.
Q: What happens to residual assets when the trader exits all positions?
A: They transfer automatically to your Spot Account.
Q: How often should I review performance?
A: Review regularly according to your goals and risk tolerance, for example weekly, to check for significant losses or deviations from expectations.
In one sentence: find a Futures Grid or Martingale strategy in the Strategy Hub and click Copy to launch it. Use someone else's tested strategy without understanding every parameter.
Who it suits: beginners unfamiliar with quantitative settings, users seeking grid profits in range-bound markets, and those interested in Martingale strategies but unsure how to configure them.
Key differences from Futures Copy Trading:
Finding a good strategy:
Sort by return and runtime in the Strategy Hub.
Search for a strategy expert's nickname or strategy ID.
Focus on strategies running for more than 30 days with positive returns.
Note: when the creator stops the strategy, your copied strategy stops too.
Step 1: Register and complete KYC
Basic KYC verification is required before any copy trading rewards are paid.
Step 2: Choose a method
Step 3: Configure settings — using the recommended Smart Ratio Futures Copy Trading example
Choose a trader using the selection guidance below.
Click Copy → Smart Ratio Copy Trading.
Set investment; beginners are advised to start with 50–200 USDT.
Enable Open at Least One Contract.
Set take-profit to 50% and stop-loss to 40%.
Set the maximum position amount to 20% of your total funds.
Keep default slippage at 0.1% or change it to 0.5%.
Choose All Assets.
Confirm and save.
Step 4: Enroll in Futures Protection
Home → More → Futures Protection → Enroll.
Once enrolled, you may apply for a liquidation subsidy of up to 500 USDT.
Do not forget this step.
Step 5: Review regularly
Check My Copy Trades daily.
Watch for abnormal trader behavior, such as sudden high-frequency trading or consecutive losses.
Cancel following at any time if dissatisfied.
Additional tips:
Do not choose solely by highest return; high returns may involve high drawdown.
Prioritize platform-selected Rising Star or Consistent Winner traders, who have official recognition.
Diversify across 3–5 traders with different styles to reduce dependence on one trader.
Beginners should avoid rates above 20% because of the high cost.
Golden rules:
Never allocate all funds to one trader.
Investment per trader or address should not exceed 20% of total funds.
Always set a stop-loss for futures copying; without one, losses have no preset limit.
Enroll in the free Futures Protection Program.
Beginners should start with 20–50 USDT and increase only after understanding the mechanism.
Core principles:
All profit shares come from profits; no profit sharing is charged on losses.
Trading and funding fees are ordinary futures or spot trading costs; copy trading adds no extra charge for them.
Smart Money and Reverse Copy Trading charge no profit share. Normal trading fees and, where applicable, funding fees still apply. Zero profit sharing does not mean zero trading costs.
Q1: What is the minimum deposit for copy trading?
Futures: 20 USDT in Smart Ratio Mode; 10 USDT in Classic Mode.
Smart Money / Reverse: 20 USDT, with at least 2 USDT per trade.
Spot: 5 USDT.
Strategies: depends on the strategy.
Q2: Must I monitor the market or place orders manually?
No. After setup, execution is fully automatic: your positions open and close when the trader or address does so. You can continue working or sleeping. Smart Money synchronizes at millisecond speed, faster than manual ordering.
Q3: Can I copy several traders or addresses simultaneously?
Yes. Funds are allocated separately, without interference. Consider 3–5 different trading styles.
Q4: What if copy trading loses money?
Copying trades can result in losses. Copy traders bear this risk themselves.
Q5: When is profit sharing deducted? Is it charged on losses?
Only profits are subject to profit sharing. If a trade loses 100 USDT, the loss is 100 USDT of your capital; no additional profit share is deducted.
Q6: Can I stop copying at any time?
Yes.
Futures: existing positions remain; close them manually or wait for the trader to close them.
Spot: all positions sell automatically at market price when copying is cancelled.
Smart Money: positions remain and must be closed manually.
Strategies: stop the strategy yourself.
Q7: Where are my copy trading funds held?
In a Copy Trading Subaccount within your own account, fully under your control. The platform does not use your funds. Only trading actions, such as opening and closing positions, trigger fund movements. You can cancel copying and recover your funds at any time.
Q8: Where can I view copy trading returns?
App → Copy Trading → My Copy Trades: view followed traders, each trader's profit/loss, position details, and historical returns.
Q9: What is the difference between investment and position amount?
Investment: maximum funds allocated to a trader, including profits.
Position amount: margin currently in use.
When investment exceeds position amount, the remainder is available for subsequent positions.
Q10: Should I choose Smart Ratio or Classic Mode?
Beginners: Smart Ratio; enter an amount and the system handles ratios and positions.
Experienced users seeking precise control: Classic Mode, with customizable leverage, margin mode, and multipliers.
Q11: Why does Smart Money charge zero profit sharing?
It is CoinW's strategic fee concession, intended to attract users to on-chain copying and build a competitive advantage. The platform earns trading fees rather than taking a share of copy trading profits.
Q12: Is Smart Money address data real?
Yes. It comes from public on-chain trading records, including HyperLiquid. All address transactions can be independently verified using blockchain explorers.
Q13: What is the biggest difference from regular Futures Copy Trading?
Data: real on-chain data versus internal platform trader data.
Fees: zero profit sharing versus 12%–30%.
Transparency: publicly verifiable on-chain records versus displayed platform trader data.
Q14: Can Reverse Copy Trading really make money?
The logic holds: reversing an address with a win rate below 30% gives an overall profit probability above 70%. However, profits are not guaranteed:
You lose when the source trades correctly.
Funding fees may erode profits.
No source trades means no opportunities to profit.
Start with 20–50 USDT and treat it as a lottery-style strategy rather than a core position.
Q15: What if a reverse-copy address becomes profitable?
You lose. The platform continuously monitors sources: persistent profitability or five days of inactivity causes removal from the reverse pool and replacement with new contrarian sources. You do not need to decide when to cancel yourself.
Q16: Can Spot Copy Trading be liquidated?
No. Spot trading has no leverage. Maximum loss is the capital invested and cannot exceed it. It is the most conservative copy trading method.
Q17: Can I sell an asset myself if I do not want to hold the trader's purchase?
Yes, but you must sell the entire holding at once rather than in portions.
Q18: Is it really free?
Most strategies charge no profit share. Some creators set a profit-sharing rate up to 30%, clearly shown on the details page. No profit-sharing label means no strategy profit share; normal trading fees and applicable funding fees still apply.
Q19: What happens when a strategy stops?
If the creator stops it, your copied strategy stops and settles automatically. If profitable and subject to profit sharing, the applicable percentage is deducted.
Q20: Can I withdraw copy trading funds at any time?
Futures and Smart Money: after cancelling, unused capital may transfer back to the Futures Account; funds in positions become available after closing. Spot: cancelling automatically sells positions, after which USDT can transfer back to the Spot Account.
Q21: What if the trader disappears or is banned?
Futures: revoking trader status closes your current positions immediately to avoid unmanaged risk.
Spot: no new purchases are copied, but existing holdings remain unaffected.
Your funds always remain in your own account and do not go with the trader.
Q22: How do I claim Futures Protection?
Enroll on the Futures Protection page (link at the end).
After liquidation, claim according to the product rules. Funds are credited in real time.
The term Futures Protection, referred to as “futures insurance” in this article, describes CoinW's liquidation subsidy mechanism. It is not an insurance product in the legal sense and involves no insurance-company underwriting or insurance claims. Refer to the campaign page for rules.
Q23: Can I earn by referring friends to copy trade?
Yes. If the trader enables Referral Profit Sharing, successful referrals through your dedicated link can earn you a permanent percentage of the copy trading user's profits, up to 30%. A single referral remains valid permanently.
Referral rewards = the copy trading user's profits × the referral profit-sharing rate. Amounts and payment rules follow the platform's applicable rules and do not constitute fixed or guaranteed returns. Referring others through dedicated links must comply with applicable laws in your country or region concerning promotion, solicitation, and reverse solicitation.
Q24: Can I copy trade and trade independently at the same time?
Yes. Copy trading uses the subaccount and does not affect independent trading in your main Futures or Spot Account. The accounts operate separately.
Q25: Why was a particular trade not copied?
Insufficient balance for opening margin.
Funds below one contract with Open at Least One Contract disabled.
Quantity exceeds the asset's position-tier maximum.
Price difference exceeds your slippage setting.
The asset is not checked in Selected Assets.
Your maximum position amount is reached.
Check the in-app message for the specific reason.
Q26: How do I transfer funds to the Copy Trading Account?
App → Account Center → Futures Account → Transfer → To Copy Trading Account. Only USDT is supported; transfers are instant. The initial transfer is automatic during setup; later additions are manual. Funds cannot be transferred out while positions are open.
Q27: Will my account add margin when the trader does?
It depends on your settings and their margin mode:
Isolated margin + Add Margin enabled + sufficient funds → automatic addition.
Isolated margin + disabled setting or insufficient funds → no addition; you may be liquidated earlier.
Cross margin → the new account does not allow the trader to add funds while positions are open, so this issue does not apply.
For isolated margin, enable Add Margin and maintain sufficient funds.
Q28: How many followers can a trader have?
The maximum depends on their tier, rather than a fixed number. If a trader is full, monitor changes in follower numbers or select another qualified trader.
Start copy trading: App → Home → Copy Trading.
Enroll in liquidation protection: Copy Trading → Futures Protection Program → Enroll.
Try Smart Money: Copy Trading → Smart Money Copy Trading → select an address → Copy.
Try reverse copying: Smart Money → Smart Money Radar → Contrarian Signals.
Risk Warning and Disclaimer
Digital asset trading involves significant risk and substantial price volatility. Historical returns, win rates, and drawdowns reflect past performance, not future outcomes. Losses may exceed your principal in futures products. Reverse Copy Trading takes the opposite direction to the signal source, is highly speculative, and may be more volatile than ordinary copy trading. Source losses do not guarantee reverse-copy profits.
Copy trading features do not constitute investment advice, financial advice, or a promise of returns. Availability and eligibility are subject to official announcements; verify the laws applicable in your region. “Futures insurance” refers to a loss-subsidy mechanism, not a legal insurance product. Historical data cited comes from platform records or public on-chain information and does not constitute an assessment, endorsement, or recommendation of the individuals concerned. Participate cautiously according to your risk tolerance, set appropriate take-profit and stop-loss levels, and never invest more than you can afford to lose.
